Apply pressure immobilisation

  • DRSABC
  • Keep patient calm and still
  • Apply a pressure immobilisatgion bandage
  • Call the emergency services

Bees, Wasps, Ants, Ticks, Scorpions, White tailed spider, Centipedes, Red back spider

Apply cold compress (ice pack)

  • Apply a cold compress or ice pack directly over the bite site to relieve pain
  • See a doctor if necessary

Blue-bottle, Jellyfish, Bullrount fish, Catfish, Crown of thorns starfish, Non-tropical minor jellyfish

Apply hot water

  • DRSABC
  • Place patients stung limb in hot water (as hot as you, the First Aider can tolerate)
  • Call the emergency services

Box, Irukandji or Jimble Jellyfish, Sea anenomets, Tropical sting of unknown origin

Vinegar

  • DRSABC
  • Calm patient
  • Flood sting area with Vinegar for at least 30 seconds
  • If Vinegar is not available, flick tentacles off using a stick or gloved fingers
  • Call the emergency services
